The purpose of the Junior Miss Pageant is to encourage those talents and activities among teenage girls that are most to be admired. The girl chosen then represents all the girls. This year twenty senior girls participated in a sparkling display of talent that included singing, reading, ballet, sew- ing, cooking, painting, and playing the piano and guitar. The twenty girls are pictured above. Front row: Patty Stecklein, Vickie Lowder, Christy Duffin, Penny Phillips, Bonnie Wood, Dian Larsen, Janice Jackson, Karen Mayer, Sandra Wride, Carla Westover. Back row: Peggy Orgill, Kathy Phillips, Annette Wallace, Denise Peck, Yvonne Pierce, Ronita Brown, Debra Hurd, Julie Christensen, Kim Bollwinkel, and Dorothy Wiebe. The ten finalists are shown center right. The five trophy winners are pictured at right and one of the physical fitness routines is shown below. The Pageant was sponsored by the Aberdeen JaCees who won a trophy for the most improved Pageant in the State.
