OMING Spirit spread throughout the entire student body during Home- coming Week. Each day the students dressed up in silly arti- cles of clothing. Monday was sock and tie day. Tuesday clothes were worn backwards. Jewelry, unmatched shoes, and other strange accessories adorned the hands and feet of the stu- dents on Wednesday. On Thursday the students wore a combi- nation of the clothing from the three previous days. Friday was black and orange day. Thursday evening the students assembled in front of the school for the Snake Dance. They ran through the streets of Aberdeen yelling and shouting victory cheers. The Snake Dance ended at the site of the bon-fire. The wood which each class had collected was burned, forming a funeral pile for the bear ef- figies made by each class. On Friday an assembly was held. Each class put on short vic- •tory-and spirit-boosting skits, trying to add a few last points towards winning the spirit stick. Finally the spirit stick was presented to the junior class. The happy juniors' smiles turned to frowns when later they learned that there had been an error in the addition of points and they had to give the spirit stick up to the seniors. After a fine parade, the long awaited game finally arrived Friday evening. Our football team played a terrific game a- gainst a very tough team—the Bear Lake Bears. Cheered on by screaming cheerleaders, pep club, and rabid fans, the Tigers won 31-15. Fine entertainment at halftime was provided by the band and drill team. Class floats paraded around the field, presenting the candidates for Homecoming Queen and attend- ants, as the band played victory music. The following night was the Homecoming Dance. Orange and white decorations played up the theme song, For All We Know. The ARS Nova played for the dancing. The suspence leading to the coronation was finally broken when Glenda Huntsinger was crowned Queen of Homecoming. Her attendants were: Sheri Poulson, junior attendant; Jan Wahlen, sophomore attendant; and Melanie Pierce, freshman attendant. Randy Mitchell was presented the Player of the game award. During intermission Marie Duffin sang the theme song, accom- panied by Corinne Taylor. Homecoming, 1972, was a fabulous and memorable week for the students of A. H. S. 5
