Our Superintendent, Mr. Keith Slane, is a suc- cessful and respected man. He takes time to realize and develop the potential of our school. It is in this endeavor that he has made our school what it is. MR. KEITH SLANE, SUPERINTENDENT 6 Principal Works With School Board for Better School. MR. E. E. INMAN, PRINCIPAL Our principal, Mr. E. E. Inman, is completing his third year at Aberdeen High School. Some of his duties include plan- ning the curriculum, representing the school in different organizations, handling serious discipline cases, and scheduling classes, teachers, and extra activities. We, the students, appreciate all the work he has done for our school. The Aberdeen School Board has been a very fine and busy organization, with the interest of the schools and students at heart. The members are: Lynn Hansen, Keith Slane, Superintendent, Ken Westfall, Elmer Isaak, Clerk, Donald Shelman, Bob Knudson, and Chet Wahlen, Chairman. SERVICES TO THE SCHOOL PROVIDED BY SECRETARIES AND CUSTODIANS Principal's Secretary Maureen Driscoll Superintendent's Secretary Gayle Ralphs Mr. and Mrs. Ray Reynolds take pride in keeping the school sparkling, in hopes that Aberdeen High students will also have pride in their school. These people have worked hard to help our school. With the help of the American Legion, and interested citizens of Aberdeen, Teen Town was given a start. It is run like a city under the direction of Kelly Taylor, Mayor, and Ken Anderson, Judge. Teen Town is certainly a worthlile project. SENIOR BALL- āA TIME FOR USā The Senior Ball, held December 20, was a success. The decorations were beautiful and the couples were thrilled by the Sound Column. Carol Knudson served as chairman for the Ball. Her hard work, along with the rest of the Senior Class, made A Time For Us a night to remember. A TRIP TO BOISE FOR THE SENIORS Seniors with Governor Samuelson and Rep. Kendell This year, the Senior class, under the direction of Mr. Rowe, traveled to Boise. They left early in the morning and returned home late that evening. While in Boise, the Seniors toured the Idaho State Museum and Zoo. The class then traveled to the capital building for a meeting with the Honor- able Governor, Don Samuelson. After posing for pictures, he answered questions the students had concerning Idaho. They then went to see the House of Representatives and the Senate in session. Here, they heard bills debated and passed. The Seniors returned home that night. .. . tired but happy they had learned so much. JUNIORS PRESENT āQUALITY STREETā The Juniors presented Quality Street November 21. It was very successful and everyone enjoyed the play. It was performed under the direction of Mrs. Wride and Mr. Gillett. SADIE HAWKINS Richard and Iris Schelske were Marryin' Sam and Sadie. The Sadie Hawkins dance, sponsored by the Sophomore class was held November 22. One of the highlights of the evening was the crowning of Daisy Mae, Teresa Stoschein, and Lil Abner, Kim Wahlen. Carolyn Thurston was named best-dressed girl. Brent Comforth was named best- dressed boy. HAPPINESS IS- LOUD MUSIC AND TENDER MOMENTS A.H.S. BAND Although the band was small this year, it has provided much musical enjoyment for all. The band performed for the Christmas Concert. ABERDEEN AND A.F. HOLD CONCERT The Mixed Chorus was directed by Mr. Bennett, American Falls music instructor. HI-FIS L-R: Marilyn King, Pam Kendell, Susan Houghland, Terresa Pankratz, Carla Horsch, Janet Shipley, Jean YVhyte, Dan Marley, Dirk Driscoll, David Stoker, Jerry Anderson, Brent Pierce, Dallas Claunch, Stan Diiffin and Kim Wahlen. The Aberdeen High School A Cappella Madrigal group, the Hi-Fis performed many places this year. The members were chosen by audition only. Under the direction of Mr. Herr, they sang at music festival, as well as other traditional places throughout the year. The group is made up of fifteen members. 59 HAPPINESSISTHE āMEMORY OF MUSICā Three students from A.H.S. were chosen to sing in the All-State Choir in Boise. They were: Susan Houghland, Jean Whyte, and Dan Marley. TO BEAT SOMEONE ELSE IN A GAME , OR TO BE BEATEN, MAY MEAN MUCH OR LITTLE. . . . After four years without a win, this year's team broke the losing streak by beating the one team that meant the most, American Falls. Although the team had their disappointments, they were always competitive. They were known to have one of the toughest defenses in the district. They were always proud to represent their two fine coaches, Tom Young and Rick Larsen. Their drills have always been sharp and precise. The members of Drill Team have also done such tilings, as sell raffle tickets for a dishwasher. T. A. was organized for the purpose of teaching leadership to future teachers. This year the meetings and programs were excellent. The members were assigned to help a teacher throughout the year. The members' work was commendable. COMMUNICATIONS STAFF DEBATE JOURNALISM Ski Club Has Large Membership This Year The Ski Club started its second year at Aberdeen High School by submitting its club constitution to Student Council. The Club started its yearly money drive by holding a dance after the Powder Puff Football game. The membership kept growing, and by the membership deadline, there were sixty members anxiously anticipating the many Saturday ski trips. The Ski Club held another drawing this year and gave away a Magnavox console stereo. The members obtained this with Gold Strike Stamp books. The money collected from the drawing was used for week-end trips. Walter Isaak and Ron Gillett were the advisors this year. Mr. Tom Young helped chaperone the trips. A grateful salute to all those who helped.
