The Class of 1951 ABERDEEN HIGH SCHOOL Aberdeen, Idaho Moving Day at A.H.S. The New . . . Modern in every detail is the new pale green Aberdeen High School. Salmon pink door s, many windows, a capacious gym, and extensive labor- atory facilities are outstanding features of the new building. Co-editors; Patricia Savage John Vanderford Co-business managers; June Garrison Larry Knight 3 DEDICATION The 1951 AVE ET VALE is dedicated to the new and the old high school buildings. Farewell to the old where we spent three wonderful year s...where we worked to prepare ourselves for the future...where we learned co-operation through social activities and sports... where we made many unforgettable friendships. Hail to the new where we spent our last, most memorable year in high school... where we experienced one of the most thrilling moments of our lives--our grad- uation. Experiences we’ve had in each will remain in our fondest memories the rest of our lives. sV:-% 4 The Old . . Built in 1928 this building served as the home of the high school student body until this year when the students trans- ferred to the new. The old building proved too small to house the growing student body and now serves as the junior high school. This was the first high school to be built in Aberdeen and at the time was thought to be adequate to allow for growth of the community. The planners underestimated the increase in population. Hence, in 1950, plans were drawn up and the contract awarded for a new high school building which was completed in November of 1950. 5 At left, Arlen Clement, Bud Cuthbert, and Cecil Hayter trying to look ambitious while at right Carol Parsons and Elaine Corbridge really work. A caravan of students walking across the football field and down the road carrying books, chairs... all manner of school supplies and furniture. It’s moving daylOn Nov- ember 22, the students of A.H.S. set to the task of moving their books and equipment over and settling down to studies in the new high school. the wind are Dorothy Henderson, Phyllis larbara Varley, and Virginia Sterr. Moving 6 ADMINISTRATION School Board These are the poeple who have guided, taught, and planned for us. They have patiently urged us on from algebra through English IV. They have understood our problems, and by listening to thei r counseIs we have gained by their experience. Most of the credit for the construction of our new high school building goes to our school board. It was a big under- taking--getting the contract, handling finances and supervising construction.
