Semors Present Their Pla : The B1rds and the Boys
"The Birds and the Boysn centers around Adam and Cricket Martin, two newly-
weds CLou Svoboda and Kay Kanel, who move into a small mid-western town. They
soon discover that one side of their property is bordered by a reformatory, when two
of its inmates, Tex and Eyes CBob Ellis and Art Koszoruj, pay them an unannounced
visit. To complicate things, the daughter, Debbie CToni Jonesl, of the local socialite,
who is doing her best to make the reformatory move, falls in love with Tex. Things
steadily get worse until Debbie almost runs away from home. Then, thanks to Cricket,
mother and daughter are reconciled, Tex is brought into their family, and the re-
formatory is shown to be an asset rather than a burden to the community.

Hard Work Produces Memorable Variety Show
The Variety Show, "Will Dexter Dingle Spoil TV?", was a howling success. It was a first, in
the sense that all dialogue was written by students. Credit must be given to Miss Janice
Mellinger and Mr. Charles Baker for their direction of the show. The show itself is centralized
about Dexter Dingle CWhitie Perkinsl, who comes to a television studio seeking a show to
sponsor. However, everybody at the studiois too busy to listen to him, so he gets buffeted about
from scene to scene. Every place he goes, he causes pandemonium. Some of the more
memorable scenes are the following: "Late, Late, Late Show", "Quiz Shown, Boo toothpaste
advertisement, bar room scene, and "Mike Mallace Interview."
An essential part of every Variety Show is the girl's kick
chorus. Here they are pictured during a practice session.

Honor Society "Taps" Four Seniors
The first Honor Society tapping of the year was held during a very quiet,
suspenseful, and impressive ceremony. The guest speaker of the ceremony was
Mr. Peters from the Board of Education. Following his speech upon the purpose
of the Honor Society, members gave speeches on Service, Character, Scholar-
ship, and Leadership, the four qualifications of all members. Upon conclusion
of the speeches, everything turned quiet in the auditorium. A lilting melody,
coming from the organ, only added to the suspense as four members of the
Society went out among the students to htap' the four new members: Bob Ellis,
Frances Collier, Toni Jones, and MichaelSampson. The ceremony was concluded
with the administering of the oath by Mr. Potter.
