Upon graduation, many of the students of Aberdeen
High School will settle down, find iobs, and rear families
in and around Aberdeen. The school realizes this and
attempts to prepare the students for the world outside,
by paralleling many of its facets of life with those ot
the town of Aberdeen. We, through this yearbook, are
attempting to bring out some of these parallels.

A Message From the Principal
The yearbook theme relating the
school to the rest of the community
is a very appropriate one. The
school is not a community in itself
Cas sometimes statedj, is not apart
from the community, but is an in-
tegral part of any community.
A class which adopts a theme to
include the overall community shows
a very encouraging and mature out-
look for school students. The hope,
of course, is that this outlook is ex-
tended to an ever-increasing amount
of desirable participation in civic
affairs.
This has been one conscious
purpose of the school in which you
receive your education-teaching the
knowledge and skills of "living"
as well as teaching knowledge and
skills of your future occupations.
The extent to which you can go in
this area is limited only by your
individual interests and capacities.

Eagle runner takes advantage of his down-field blocking
Coached with expertness by head coach Jim
Smith and assistant coach Ernie Schwarz, the
1957 Eagle football team completed its season
with a highly commendable record of 6 wins and
3 defeatsg a record which bettered any Eagle
season of the past. Throughout the entire season,
all members of the team worked and trained hard,
and the team was one with great spirit. It was
the combined effort made by all the members
which made a winning and successful season
possible.

The Eagle Basketball Team of 1957-58-coached excellently by Ernie Schwarz-can

Eagle Pacers Have Speed and Endurance
After a great deal of hard work and training, last year's track team had an excellent season.
Along with winning first place honors in the Elks Relays and other county meets, the Eagle
Pacers captured the title of State Class B Champions. This season the Eagles face a much
larger and tougher schedule. Many of last years stars have graduated, but with a great deal of
training the Eagle Pacers of '58 should again have an excellent season.

Eagles Continue Homecoming Winning Streak
This years Homecoming, as the other three in the past, was highly successful in all respects.
For the first time, the pep rally, bon-fire, and 'tPowder Bowl" game on Friday night attracted
enough people to rival the parade, game, and dance of the following day. However, the events
held on Friday will never outclass the Homecoming game with its crowning of the Homecoming
Queen on Saturday. This years Homecoming Queen, as chosen by the football team, was Kay
Payne. Preceding the game was the crowning of the queen, performed by the co-captains of the
football team, Tony Ulehla and Ronnie Rhinehart. The game itself was a thriller. At the half
we were losing to Sherwood 7-O, but in the second half we sprung to life and came from behind
to win 13-7. This comeback victory heightened the spirits of everyone. Actually, we had to
wing we hadn't lost a Homecoming game yet, so we had to keep the record going.

Hard Work Produces Memorable Variety Show
The Variety Show, "Will Dexter Dingle Spoil TV?", was a howling success. It was a first, in
the sense that all dialogue was written by students. Credit must be given to Miss Janice
Mellinger and Mr. Charles Baker for their direction of the show. The show itself is centralized
about Dexter Dingle CWhitie Perkinsl, who comes to a television studio seeking a show to
sponsor. However, everybody at the studiois too busy to listen to him, so he gets buffeted about
from scene to scene. Every place he goes, he causes pandemonium. Some of the more
memorable scenes are the following: "Late, Late, Late Show", "Quiz Shown, Boo toothpaste
advertisement, bar room scene, and "Mike Mallace Interview."
An essential part of every Variety Show is the girl's kick
chorus. Here they are pictured during a practice session.

Semors Present Their Pla : The B1rds and the Boys
"The Birds and the Boysn centers around Adam and Cricket Martin, two newly-
weds CLou Svoboda and Kay Kanel, who move into a small mid-western town. They
soon discover that one side of their property is bordered by a reformatory, when two
of its inmates, Tex and Eyes CBob Ellis and Art Koszoruj, pay them an unannounced
visit. To complicate things, the daughter, Debbie CToni Jonesl, of the local socialite,
who is doing her best to make the reformatory move, falls in love with Tex. Things
steadily get worse until Debbie almost runs away from home. Then, thanks to Cricket,
mother and daughter are reconciled, Tex is brought into their family, and the re-
formatory is shown to be an asset rather than a burden to the community.

Honor Society "Taps" Four Seniors
The first Honor Society tapping of the year was held during a very quiet,
suspenseful, and impressive ceremony. The guest speaker of the ceremony was
Mr. Peters from the Board of Education. Following his speech upon the purpose
of the Honor Society, members gave speeches on Service, Character, Scholar-
ship, and Leadership, the four qualifications of all members. Upon conclusion
of the speeches, everything turned quiet in the auditorium. A lilting melody,
coming from the organ, only added to the suspense as four members of the
Society went out among the students to htap' the four new members: Bob Ellis,
Frances Collier, Toni Jones, and MichaelSampson. The ceremony was concluded
with the administering of the oath by Mr. Potter.

The Queen and King of the May, Mary McMorrow and Frank Falcone, sit upon their
beflowered throne flanked by their court.
1957 Mayday Held Outdoors
The 1957 Mayday was the first ever held outdoors. The day was sunny and clear,
and the beautiful weather addedto the splendor of the Queen, King, and Court. Although
the senior high students were not permitted outside except for the crowning of the
Queen, a good time was had by allg for the teachers did not have the heart to give the
students much work on such a day. The King and Queen were Frank Falcone and Mary
McMorrow, and a wonderful couple they made. In the evening was the traditional May
Dance, with its grand march and quiet dance music.
Here are some of the ladies and gentlemen of the court who
represent the Senior, Junior, Sophomore, and Freshmen classes.

We Could Have Danced All Night
King Neptuneis invitation
included not only dancing but
also dining. The banquet
proved to be a grand start
for the large evening ahead.
In regalness and splendor King Neptune rules over his
subjects who attended his gala prom given in their honor.
The ball took place in his glorious underwater kingdom.

The sea was calm and peaceful before we entered but all came to life with our coming.
On the down beat, music filled the room and dancers crowded the floor.
And Still Have Wished For More
We danced all night as fish
and colored bubbles floated above
our heads. From the mouth of
a huge whale came the lilting
music of Eddie Dwyer.
