We re almost ready to make our entrance onto the great stage of the world and as we recall the
magy rehearsals that have become just a memory we can t help belng proud of the progress we have
ma e
Amusement shows rn our faces when we th1nk back over our f1rst play contest which we won The
productron was called Where s That Report Card? Of course we thought that our berng rn the frrst year
of lugh school helped us wtn that contest but our mtnds were changed about that when we were pre
sented w1th the trophy rn the nmth grade too and the audtence howled w1th glee at our antrcs rn Dr
Quack Quack
The elghth grade fof wh1ch we were now a partj rooted that hlstorrc year for the Varsrty Basketball
team 1n the state frnals Our hoarse throats were a m1nor 1tem when our glortous upperclassmen brought
home that coveted trophy and II was placed 1n the show case for all the world to see Orchtds for
Mable drdn t wrn the play contest and we were convrnced that from now on we must work harder rn the
struggle of l1fe
We entered the ntnth grade w1th confrdence sure that th1s year would put our name rn lrghts over
AHS Everyone was talkrng football that year and they had good cause for thrs was the year AHS was
starungrts first football team The coaches prcked out a lot of the male members of our class for honored
postttons 1n the squad We wanted our team to be better than all the rest tn the county so our AHS Band
was orgaruzed 1n that same year Both groups have struggled and we have come up w1th a spurred hard
worktng sports group
The new hxgh school was almost done and all of AHS turned out to h1ke up to thetr campmg ground
at mxdterm The rmprovements were wonderful' Everyone had to comment on the new gurdance offtce
Cafeterla washrooms and lockers but wonder of all wonders we now had a separate audrtorrum and
gymnasrum w1th locker rooms UMAGINEQU
The rehearsals were nearlng an end when the eleventh year came tnto stght Blg decrstons were put up
to us to see lf the lessons we had been taught had soaked 1n Our class was the flrst to wear the new
standardtzed class rrng Boy were we proud' Mlke Rlley assrsted the manager tn the magaztne campargn
from whrch our school profited ln athletrc equlpment and numerous other ways Electron returns named
Margot Breslm AA prestdent and Larry Coffman Student Councll presldent for the semor year Everyone
came 1nto the act when the Jumor class gave the semors a savory banquet and really superb prom The
decorattons 1n keeptng w1th the theme Over the Rambow surpassed all that we had ever seen The
Conunentals played for the prom and everyone gathered around to watch an rmpromptu dtsplay of
danclng ability provided by some of the energetrc boys The Honor Soclety acclalmed Chessock Cul
lum Breslln Mahan Cox and Curry as the outstandlng members of our class
At the megmmng of our Sentor year Irene Cullum was chosen to be our presrdent Supportrng her are
Bob Duppstaat v1ce prestdent Irene Chessock treasurer and Mary Eller secretary We frll with pnde
when anyone menuons that Mrke Rlleyrs presrdent of the Maryland Regtonal Student Counctl No one wlll
ever forget the ftrst Homecomlng Game 1n whlch we beat Havre de Grace 39 O U1 football Mary Eller
was crowned Homecomrng Queen by co capta1nsR1ley and Moore Many events w11l not be recorded here
for they have not yet happened but our name rs sure to hold tts own 1n the yearbook of AHS
The curtams draw slowly back and we see for the ftrst tune the people that we are about to face W
can thank God that our lrves have been shaped and tnfluenced by experlenced and tratned hands through
out our educatton We don texpect to change the world overmght but we do hope to become good use
ful cruzens IH whatever communlues we f1nd our ' e s work
