Don ' t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow Don ' t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow Don ' t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow Don ' t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow Squire principal and friend of students is Fr. Gery Mee¬ ha n. Pere also oversees Stu¬ dent Council and gets in a little German instruction too. Mrs. Marie Albers maintains her undying support of Pennings and does superbly in maintaining the floors, drapes, yard, windows, res¬ trooms, flowers, stairwells, rum¬ mage sales, etc., etc., etc. Gadgets like computers, video recorders, and TV program re¬ views occupy the world of sen¬ ior English mentor and musical director Mr. Wm. Bauknecht. Carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring, repair work, and clean¬ ing are all talents of Mr. Mike Castelic. While moderating the fresh¬ man class, Miss Jaci Collins presents Algebra I and all four years of French — without ever getting any of them con¬ fused. Historian Dr. Wally Coyle keeps Squires’ learning rooted firmly in the past, whether American or Church. Art and photography teachers Mrs. Dixie Davidson is pleased with awards won by some of her charges. Lines, angles, and even triangles are no strangers to sophomores, thanks to the geometric instruc¬ tion of Mrs. Mary Jo Diedrick. Some frosh mathematicians and the cheerleaders get to enjoy her also. 36 Mr. Steve Fifrick oversees the World Wars in his history classes, morality debates in junior religion, and physical encounters on the JV football gridiron. When he ' s not biking or downhill skiing Fr. Art LaLuzerne. does Key Clubbing and math problems. makU, fMi Librarian Mrs. Lucy Phelan divides her attention between books, and projectors, but always gives full at¬ tention to their users. Forensics coach Mr. Tom Pigeon is best known for his sophomore English classes. A monumental task falls on bi¬ ologist and bowler Mr. Jim Oettinger. Not only is he school disciplinarian, but he After 24 years as the Squire head football and bas- must also monitor the behavior ketball coach, Mr. Don LaViolette moves up the of his two Squire sons, street to direct the Knights at SNC. The APFIS com¬ munity is the better for having been served so long and loyally by a sociology teacher, assistant princi¬ pal, and first class gentleman. Tr. Brendan McKeough is seldom seen by Squires as he is seques¬ tered in the business office, mak¬ ing sure income exceeds ex¬ penses. All matters athletic are ably Back-up in the kitchen is pro- handled by sports director Mr. vided by the milk shake expert Dave Minten. Underclassmen Mrs. Anne O ' Keefe. are also treated to his phy ed classes and his roundball coaching. Presiding over the Music Flail is chorus director Mr. Don Richter. Fie saves room also for a " Fiddler " and the Swing Choir. 1 " J ||w — i|§ c Wm ' ‘ Amm r Ik j I y 11 ii N| : I ‘u Am C Frater Jim Stein wins the hearts of all Squires with his ever-present " hello " and a hug. Jim teaches Bib¬ lical Survey, Christian Worship, and Consumer Education. Dietician Mrs. Betty Vande Flei, who helped APHS first open its doors J4 years ago, still delights Squire stomachs. No one else at APHS is better at dishing out cafeteria change and attention to Squires than secretary Mrs. Kay Van Gruns- ven. Mrs. Alice Stuebs helps to keep this place tidy and nice. Holding the entire Pennings com¬ plex together is the lady behind the principal. " Fr. Meehan, make room for Mrs. Mary Jane Van Re mortell " Every Squire’s day is pre-pro¬ grammed by registrar Mr. Tom Tessner. And if a student is lucky, he gets the locker he wants and the proper section of chemistry. Fr. Bill Van De Kreeke continues his demanding schedule of pastor - ing the Maplewood parish, instill¬ ing Latin into freshmen, beating Squires at racquetball, and lots of commuting. Physics instructor Mr. Jim Ser- vais also leads rookie Squires through the maze of Basic Sci¬ ence. Spanish expert Mrs. Becky Stein counsels juniors and sen¬ iors.
