The Circle One of the most exciting mo- ments of our Abbot life was Miss Hearsey ' s announcement in chapel that we were to be the authors of the famous Abbot Circle. The yearbook at Abbot is the most val- uable part of our senior year. We must admit that the work was dif- ficult, especially deciding on the theme and the layout and draw- ings, but before we fully realized it each of us was responsible for a particular job, and to work we went. Those memorable Friday night meetings seemed terribly long and presented many difficult problems, but with Mrs. Reeves ' helpful advice this yearbook re- sulted in what we hope is a suc- cess. Our staff was made up of the following girls: Judy Merriwether, wonderful Editor-in-Chief, Nancy Penwell, Business Manager, and those professional reporters, Nancy Jayne, Jane Edwards, Connie Markert, Persis Goodnow, Rosario Espaillat, Lloyd Camp, Ann Lyons, Anna Stefani, Simone Ma they. Betsy Waskowitz, our talented Art Editor.

A Courant W ill we ever forget Suzy running around like mad collecting work for the Courant! As most everyone knows, being editor of Courant is a real honor and also loads of work. It has been the Abbot literary magazine for years, with the inten- tion of unveiling some of the school ' s talent and also to encourage the writing of more material. Coif- rant is published twice a year and contains stories, poems, and essays, chosen for their admittance by the Courant board. Under Suzy ' s won- derful leadership and the helpful guidance of Miss Sweeney Courant has been a great success. This job really takes patience and these people, chosen for their outstand- ing qualities, have made the Cour- ant better than ever before. It is publications like this in a school like Abbot that give girls like us a chance to show what we can do and for the readers to acquire an inspiration from these write-ups. ' .5-2 I

Not only is her cooperation needed in playing a certain sport, but also in taking her walks and encouraging others to do likewise. This year we have been verv fortunate to have a wonderful president, Butch Brown, who has inspired each and every one of us to take a deep interest in the athletic functions of the school year. Joan Baird was our vice- president; Connie Markert, secre- tarv and Anisia Allen, treasurer.
