We all tried our best to make our team win, either by playing out on the field or by giving our support on the side lines. While we prepared for our all-important Field Day, each of us squeezed in as many walks as possible. Just as we had become almost profes- sional (?) we had to start in anew with winter sports. a glance masks. Some of us danced to the beat of the tom-toms, while others bent their necks doing elephant walks and fish flops. In the meantime we had our first snow- fall and the more experienced trudged out to Chapin while the beginners faced the terrors of the mighty Suicide. We also hail a chance to show our skill on skates. With spring came tennis, lacrosse and softball. Patiently aided by Miss Judd we finally learned to cradle the ball. We slid in for a home run amid the cheers of our excited teammates. Once again tennis was in full swing with everyone trying to serve against the blinding sun. The year was drawing to a close as we took our final walk and had our last canoe trip on the lazy river. The day of our last chapel arrived, and with rising anticipation, we waited for the coveted shield to be presented to the winning team. So ended the sports year of 1951. [63]
