THE PROM
lVe have a Prom at Abbot, and for weeks before it
comes.
In each room and everywhere the talk about it humsg
There 's the one eternal question. i'YVho's the man
you 're going to ask? "
Then you fill your orders out, which surely is a task.
And then the day draws nearer and our dresses they
inspect.
Each layer of tulle. each ruffle and each tuck do they
dissect.
For necks are high at Abbot and sleeves are just so
long,
And yards and yards of tulle are bought that they
may not be wrong.
At last the night itself arrives, and soon the music
starts,
Sending thrills and flutters to the many beating
hearts.
But why, you say. about a dance should this excite
ment be?
Because we have them once a year, and only once,
you see!
