440 REmY"i1EAriv11ohnston. and Cleland-
Amold. D913 to '
Jerry Leighton's performances warrant special
mention. Leighton, a senior, captured the 100 and 220
yard dashes for the third straight year. His times were
10. 2 and 23 flat seconds respectively. He won the broad
jump with a leap of 21 feet and 6 inches.
The sprint relay team, anchored by Leighton, cov-
ered the 440 yard track in 46. 4 seconds, three-tenths of
a second under the existing record of the regional. Be-
sides Leighton, the team was comprised of Robert
Cleland, George Johnston, Willie Arnold, and alternate
David Bonnen.
In the regional meet at San Marcos Leighton won the
100 yard dash to qualify himself for the state meet. He
failed to place in the broad jump after scratching sev-
eral times. He did not run the 220 yard dash. Consol-
idated's sprint team came in second to Fort Hook, and
since only a first place realy team qualifies for the
state meet, Leighton turned out to be Consolidated's
lone state track representative. Leighton was beaten
in both the 100 and 2.20 yard dash preliminaries at the
state meet.

Her artistic ideas and keen knowledge of photography have made
Sara Puddy the perfect editor of the TIGERLAND, Each member of
the staff, along with Mrs. A. R, Orr, has given much time and thought
to the planning and construction of this yearbook.
Under the superb direction of Col. R. J. Dunn, the A 8: M Con-
solidated Band has worked hard to make it one of the best. Charles
Johnson is the president of the Band, which marched at all of the
football games this season. Purchase of new uniforms and some
new instruments by the A 8: M Consolidated Mothers and Dads Club,
was a great addition to this group. Their most recent accomplishment
was a concert given at the Gymnasium on May 4.

Better known as the "Four Little Girls in Blue", this quartet
has been one of the most active groups on the CHS Campus. This
organization, under the faithful direction of Mr. Robert L. Boone,
has given numerous performances at local civic programs. The
highlight of the year was a trip to Fort Hood Hospital. Consolidated
will certainly feel the loss when these talented four graduate.
