IHRST TEAM FOOTBALL The 1948 football team representing Wyoming High provided its fans with an interesting and exciting season. ln the first game of the season our pigskin pushersu succeeded in beating Kelloggsville with a score of 21 to 0. Lowell's Redbirds humbled the Vikings with a score of 6 to 2 in our second encounter. but the Hold fightii was again evident when in the following engagement the Wyoming eleven defeated Zeeland with a score of 18 to tl. Again when the Vikings met the co-champion East High Pioneers they gave a good account of themselves although they had to accept the short end of a 28 to 6 score. but in the next encounter the Wvyoming boys were subdued by the co-champion Godwin High Vliolverines by a score of 25 to 0. The Crandville Bulldogs clung to the little brown jug by holding the Wyoming Vikings to a tied game of 7 to 7. and this was followed by the tussel with the Rockford Rams in which the Vikings came out with a victorious record of 0 to 0. ln the final game of the season the Lee High Rebels restored a modest spirit among the Viking forces by dishing out a 12 to 0 defeat to the Vfyoming eleven. At the close of the season Cork Knoll. Paul Ter Haar, and Eugene Plummer were elected honorary co-captains for the year in recognition of their stellar performance. Seven lettermen will comprise the nucleus for next year's squad which will seek to maintain the spirit and good sportsmanship exemplified by this year's team and all teams who have represented Wyoming in the past. SECOND TEAM FOOTBALL The second team of 1948 under the able tutelage of their new coach, Mr. Clark. hnished the season with a 4-1 record, their only defeat coming at the hands of the powerful Lee High Rebels.
