Ivana- Aitluro. -no 'W miata- MW 'WW A Q3-ffg T1 T ,hge Y WF TOP ROW Coach Cohn Bassett Barry Paxcr Balltc D Rmppcn Lxman lacu Htutycr -Xrtns 9 FIRST ROW kmppcn Iluncr itrcrtbcrgcr Fhlenbnrg ,ff 0n the Diamond Last year the Tlgers played thelr ftrst season of baseball SIDCC 1932 and had a farrly good season lil splte of the fact that many of the players had played lrttle or no hardball before Prtted agalnst such teams as Morton and Oak Park, who were leadlng contenders 1n the state baseball tournament, they held thelr own and often had the adversary Wllh hrs back to the wall Although the pttchlng department had Coach Col1n a httle worr1ed at the start of the season, lf turned out to be the ma1nstay of the team The leadmg hurler was Art Balke who won four of the srx games 111 whlch the Tlgers were VICIOYIOUS Art was also Cilpffilll of thrs year s nrne As many of the team were xnexperlenced, many of the games were lost on errors Of course there were those freak1sh games such as the one at St Charles, where they lost by one run because of a homer by the Sallll s pltcher, who hadnt got a h1t all season The Trgers Hnlshed the season wrth a score of srx games won and eleven games lost After the battlng averages were calculated, 1t was found that Dlck KDIPIDCD was rn the lead w1th an average of 387, wh1ch IS good on any man s ball club. Because of the experlence they galned last season, the Tlgers faced fh1S year's schedule w1th much more confr dence, although many of last year's regulars graduated last une. Showing off again l, 2, 3, 4 Don't jiggle! Girls Working There are two tliyisions of girls' athletics: the requiretl gym classes untler the tlirection of our gym teacher, Miss Bixler, anal the G.A.A., letl hy Shirley Olsen, the cluh presitlent, anal supervisetl hy Miss Bixler. The gym classes have really heen going to townl, in the line of physical fitness this year. We startetl out with soccer, speetl hall, ancl volley hall, having interclass tournaments in each. This is as it hatl heen in precetling years with the first two playecl outsitle antl volley hall in the gym, hut our next activity was something entirely new: a physical fitness program in which we learnetl how to molcl ourselves more nearly to our itleal. After we hatl heconie perfect specimens, we tlitl gymnastics every gym periotl to stay in trim and then . . . calisthenics. This was a new type of murtler for many of us, hut we liyetl through it. Stunts and tumhling came next, anal we were pretty limher hy that time, reatly for anything, which was folk tlancing.
