THE TEACHING STAFF One of the things found in all good schools is a staff of well-trained, mature, and understanding teachers. A good teacher is an important person outside the classroom. If a teaching staff contains people of different kinds of interests and abilities, the teachers can add a great deal to school and community life. The Wauneta Schools have had a group of teachers who have there positions for several years. When new teachers have come, they have become part of the school easily and quickly. Each of them added something of his own to school life and to building up the school. ELEMENTARY TEACHERS Mrs. Arlene Buffington, who teaches first grade, has taught in Wauneta for six years. She attended Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri, where she majored in kintergarten work. tNo picture is available for Mrs. Buffingtonl. Mrs. Susan Graves teaches social studies in the upper grades. She attended Grand Island College and the University of Nebraska. She has taught in Wauneta for six years. Helen Howlett attended Peru State Teachers College and has taught in the Wauneta Schools for two years. She teaches second grade and public school music in the elementary grades. Lois Moody is teaching her first year in Wauneta. She teaches K English in the upper grades, She also attended Peru State il 55 Teachers College. , , ' 'T Mrs. Mabel Scriven is Elementary Principal. She has taught in Wauneta fifteen years. She has attended Kear- ney State Teachers College, the University of Nebraska, and Colorado State College of Education at Greeley. Mrs. Dorothy Steckman teaches third grade. She attended the University of Nebraska, and has taught in Wauneta for two years. Mrs. Edna Voseipka received an A. B. degree from Colo- rado State College of Education at Greeley, and has been at Wauneta for four years. She teaches fourth grade. -9,

HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS Leonard Blinde has been at Wauneta for two years. He is in charge of both band and choral music in high school and teaches public school music to grades seven and eight. He attended Midland College and the University of Nebraska. Loral E. Dunn has taught science in Wauneta High school for three years, and has taught driver training this year. He holds a B. Sc. degree from the University of Nebraska and a M. A. degree from the University ot Michigan. Freda lhrig received her A. B. degree from Peru State Teachers College. She is dramatics coach and teaches English and social studies. She has taught at Wauneta three years. Treva Lewis holds a B. Sc. degree from Kearney State Teachers College. This is her first year at Waunetw. She teaches vocational home economics and is adviser for the Broncho Boosters. Lloyd E. McCann has an A. B. degree from Peru State Teachers College and a M. A. degree from Colorado State College ot Education at Greeley. He has also done graduate work at the University of Nebraska and is working on the degree of Doctor of Education at Greeley. He has been superintendent at Wauneta for two years. He teaches social studies and is adviser for the BRONCHO and the Student Council Bette Io McDowell received an A. B. degree from Kearney State Teachers College. She teaches business educa- tion and is adviser for HOOEPBINTS. She has been at Wauneta for three years. Glenn W. Nicklas has taught vocational agriculture at Wauneta for three years and is adviser for the Future Farmers of America. He received a B. Sc. degree from New Mexico State College and has done graduate work at the University of Nebraska. Robert R. Wachs is completing his first year as athletic coach and teacher of mathematics at Wauneta. He holds the B. SC. degree from Colorado State College ot Education at Greeley, and has done additional work on the M. A. degree at Greeley. -10-
