Because of the nature of our club, the name was changed in 1954 to its present name. The purpose of the club is service. The services during the year have included the following: sponsoring a school dance after the Waco High-University football game, helping with the Stillwell Bazaar, making Christmas presents for hospital patients in Austin, helping with the March of Dimes, giving Easter parties for the Latin American Center, helping the Altrusa Club at Pil- gramage, helping in the Muscular Distrophy Drive, selling candy for the Girls Service League Scholarship, selling Valentine corsages, selling Waco High School stationery, and helping with the American Legion Poppy Sale.

Students who have an interest in creative writing benefit from their work in the club and the opportunities it offers them. The club's membership has grown steadily the past few years. The present membership of 22 write outside club and bring their work to club for constructive criticism. During the year the club's activities included working on poetry, poets' lives, writing an advertisment, and speakers on creative writing. The program committee, made up of Charla Barker, Edward Kultgen, and Robert Thompson, keep the club supplied with varried activities. The members are Well fed with weekly refreshments. R eporter Chartered by the Texas Education Agency's Vocational Department in 1950, Waco High D. E. C. A. is in its 19th year of training in the fields of marketing and distribution. Among the graduates of Waco High D. E. C. A. are store managers, heads of departments, dentists, lawyers, bankers business managers, and many that operate their own businesses. It is estimated by the D. E. Department that 85 per cent of all D. E. graduates remain in the fields of marketing, and distribution after graduation. As members of D. E. C. A., Waco High students are trained in various fields of retail, wholesale, and service selling, and put into practice what they learn in class at their respective training stations each afternoon. As active members of D. E. C. A., Waco High School D. Efers participate in state, area, and national leadership conferences each year. D. E.
