Wabash High School debaters once more drew out ttieir gas ration coupons and steered their valuable tires to participate in all major debating and discussion events of this season on the topic: Resolved: That the United States should join in reconstructing the League of Nations. Looking over the records, we find that the teams have persuaded many a judge, for the season was most successful, and it terminated with breaking a ten years ' standing record by going to the state — but yielding the cup. 1943-44 DEBATE SCHEDULE December 12 Wabash Affirmative — Peru Negative January 14 Wabash Negative — Peru Affirmative February 3 FOUR-WAY TOURNAMENT Peru Rochester Elwood Wabash February 26 SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT Peru Rochester Elwood Wabash March 24 STATE TOURNAMENT at Manchester College On April 12, 1944, Jack Butler won second place in the State Oratorical Contest, sponsored by the American Legion and the State Bar Association. The subject was The Constitution, Our Living Temple of De- mocracy.

The Wabash Chapter of the Quill and Scroll, founded in 1941, has grown from a membership of two to one of ten under the sponsorship of Miss Biggerstaff. The embers are Virginia Ford, president; Joan Merritt, vice-president; Elizabeth Brant, secretary; Marilyn Cairns, treasurer; Tom Fedewa, sergeant-at-arms, and Marilynne Latchem.
