DYKES 1978: Ed Little 1984 Jeff White Paul Brian Hartnett Ernest, Otis, Clarence from D L , Cromebone Waynesboro, Virginia CE-MS-Corps of Engineers Golf 4. 3, 2, 1, Monogram Club 3, 2, 1: Recondo Quali- fied 1; Private 4, 3. 2, 1. Rooming with Paul for three years has been a very enlightening experience, almost as enlightening as the six years I had known him before we came to VMI. Being somewhat of an expert on his different moods, he still managed to surprise me with the infinite variety of his personalities, which ranged from Ernest Angely to Otis Campbell. Although we still manage to get along, our friendship has been stretched to its limits, and then some. But, through our cadetship we managed to keep our basic opinion of this place J.I.R. Well, I was always one to get the last word so we don ' t want any exceptions. I ' d like to say that if this place didn ' t do anything else, it made me think, I know the longer you are away, the more you appreciate it, so it will probably be the same with me I would like to thank Joe for his lovely introduction, and all my friends for the good times. DYKES 1978: William Shady Grove 1984; Charles Chunk Foster Michael Wayne Hatfield Hat. Sumo Wise. Mike insures that regardless of the outcome his head is held high from the pure satisfaction of a perfect effort, Mike is a fortunate person in that he is filled with love He. however, is a man who is satisfied with himself but not solely for himself. Rather, he is a man concerned about mankind For Mike ' s example and support, many will be forever grateful. And for Mike ' s faith in the Greatest of all Greatness, he will find eternal fulfillment- May your joys be many and may your life be. indeed, a happy one. See you in Wise. North Carolinean boy, I v asn ' t quite sure what to expect Yet, in the next 2 years I have learned to love and respect him to the max Although not a true book- worm, his dedication and knowledge of the military can only be to our advantage Through road-trips, Sweet Briar, Fredericksburg, and Atlanta he has always come through with a unique grin and almost always a good buzz The only fault that I can say that Harby has is that he is almost too selfless and will always help a Brother Rat In conclusion, I can only say, Pour Me Another Tequila Sheila, and good luck. Now for my part. Thanks to everyone who has put up with me, but most of all, thanks mom and dad. I love you DYKES 1978: Craig Badalaty 1984; Art Schuhart Mark Judson Hardy Psuedo, Psuedo-Ranger. I ' ve won- dered whether these four long years have really been worth the pain that one goes through. But when one thinks of the hassels of going here, one has the tendency to push them to the rear of his mind and that is what I am going to do now I would not trade these four years for any other at some other institute of higher learning By coming to this penal institute. one sacrifices many pleasures that are commonplace elsewhere, but VMI prepares us for reality in a sense because life ' s course is full of sacrifices: sacrifices to your BR ' s, brothers, parents, wife and yourself. Many sincere thanks go to Mom, Dad, and Paul for their understanding and support as well as Jesus Christ for giving me the courage and strength to keep on keeping on-when the going got rough Long live ' 81 and Good-bye VMM! A year later, a more mature but no more intelligent cadet was in uniform again.
