B SKETB LL 's N A E 80 The Blue and Gold Trailblazers, with a regular season mark of 23-3, proved to be one of the mose powerful junior col- lege basketball teams. Ranked among the top 10 cage squads all year, the Trailblazers were led by All-American Rickey Green, Tom Harris, Roy Taylor, Dale Slaughter, Mike Wilson, and Lawrence Boston. Harris became the all-time scoring leader with 1,416 career points, Green took over third place by scoring 1,292 points. Green also became the third Trailblazer to earn All-American Status, joining Bob McAdoo, '71, and Wayne Canaday, '68. Harris was placed on the honorable mention list. During the Region XII qualifying tourney, the Blazers defeated six opponents as they won their fourh consecutive title and ninth in the last eleven years. In the finals at Hutchinson, Kans., the Trailblazers eliminated the No. 1 rated Hutchinson Blue Dragons, 87-78. ln the second round, however, Utica lMiss.l caught the Blazers off guard, 74-59, dropping them into the losers bracket. Westchester lN.Y.l pinned a second loss on them, 70-54. The Blue and Gold finished twelfth overall.
