But in spite o these hardships, Verdugo's Varsity wa able to place second. The Junior Varsit took tirst place in league and lOth Grad placed second in its division. This year' squad was under the direction ot Mi Kenneth Schmidt who did a fine iob c coaching. Some of the highlights ot the seaso were the upset victories over North Holly wood and Poly. There were many fin times turned in by Verdugo's top rur ners. Jett Warrender, on the Junior Vai sity team, came in tirsthin league final: Gary Fayette, also on Junior Varsity, ra undefeated in league competition, loL was ineligible for league tinals.
