Rules and Regulations — 1971 A student is under University jurisdiction during the entire period of her enrollment except: When she is signed out for an overnight absence under the chaperon age of her parents or legal guardian, either in Montevallo or out of town. When she is signed out for an overnight out-of-town absence with parental permission (specific or standing) under the chaperonage of a responsible hostess, upon her return to Montevallo, she is again under Univer- sity jurisdiction and is expected to sign in immediately. Freshmen may have three free evenings each week: Frida) and Saturday and one other of their choice. They must sign out properly and sign in by the residence hall closing hours. A student with a B average for the first semester may be allowed to date at her discretion but she must maintain her B average. WOMEN: The house council in each residence hall will have authority to decide the fine or punishment which will be placed upon students who do not abide by established standards for room maintenance. The house council will be permitted, when they deem it necessary, to place upon students who do not abide by It is expected that men students at the University of Montevallo will conduct themselves as gentlemen at all times. Any student whose language is consistently indecent and offensive, whose conduct is rude or lacking in politeness, whose dress reflects discredit upon the high traditions of the university, or who, in any other manner habitually declines to cooperate in the maintenance of a wholesome university life, may face disci- plinary action. Blanket Permission is granted to all women students unle jliciilv restricted by parents.
