The next major event filled the streets with people, floats, alien forces from residence halls and the one and only Huggie Bear. But exactly what goes on behind the scene not everyone knows. They see the floats that took a few days fand nightsl of hard work and the smile of the young ladies that they have held for a lifetime just for this moment, but what they fail to see is the months of planning that have been undertaken by twen- ty dedicated students called the Royal Rooters. Starting almost exactly from the first day of the new semester, the Royal Rooters began working on the theme and the activities that surround this most popular of year- ly events. Committees were formed from the small group to preside over Homecoming elections, direct field ceremonies, organize parade positions, and basically make sure everyone is where they were sup- posed to be and know what they are supposed to do. The Homecoming Queen had been chosen over two weeks before, and a few Royal Rooters had the task of keeping the winner secret up until the climactic moment at the end of the annual bonfire-pep rally co-sponsored by Arkansas Hall. The night had finally come, the game was finally over, and the Royal Rooters breathed a sigh of relief and beamed a smile of pride and joy. Later that week as new ideas were being formed to make the next Homecoming better than ever, a Royal Rooter was overheard say- ing, The best part about Home- coming is that itis finally over?
