The new associate justices take the oath of office, administered by Chief Justice Jack Skaggs. October wasn ' t without its bad weather, as the rains de- scended from above and the co-eds dashed across Guadalupe to nine o ' clock classes. Typical of the many students who made the trek to Dallas were Mary Ann Green, Herb Crook, Bob Brown, and Rosie Haney (for the 0. U. Game, that is). More politics; more Delta Gammas, this time using their brooms to sweep in the votes for Betty Jackson. James McMichael, equipped with dark glasses and pipe, was on the scene to see that everything was on the up and up. Slack periods during the day saw friendly conversations between campaigners, such as this one between Chuck Storey and Tom Johnson. After everything had quieted down, the new assembly members met to hear President Brad Bourland acquaint them with their duties. The voters didn ' t forget that Frances Nichols had an eye on them during the election. PACE 172

October hay rides and picnics were extremely popular, and every- one on the band ' s barbecue had a swell time. So much fun called for a picture to be taken. Here band members and their dates smiled for the photographer. J. A. Sauls, national president of Theta Xi, came to Austin to present the local chapter the award for the most improved chapter in the organization. Charles Hill accepted the plaque. Down Alpha Phi way Elaine Jordan does a pie balancing act for her sorority sisters. Some of the D Phi E girls appear to be studying. They ' re Gartner and Rachofsky. Actually, though, the group reading the comics on the floor looks more natural. Oster explains it all for the sisters. Charles Sparenberg relaxes after a busy day. Another Texas Tower Time broadcast at the Union out of the way, students leave for supper.
