Talbert Lambda Sigma is an honorary fraternity for journalism ma- jors and students interested in this field. Its purpose is to up- hold the highest standards of true journalism. In order to be initiated, a student must maintain a 4.0 quality point average in journalism and a 3.0 quality point average in non-journalism courses. Lambda Sigma sponsors the Mississippi Press Institute for high school publications, and conducts an annual convention for the Press Institute members. Lambda Sigma, with the Journ- alism Department, sponsors the annual Editor ' s Short Course for the editors of Mississippi and presents awards to meritorious editors throughout the state.
