H istorian Alpha Epsilon Delta, the only pre-medical fraternity on the University of Florida campus, was installed April 4th, l93O. The fraternity is honorary and members are selected' 'on the basis of scholarship, medical interest, and character. There are thirty-two chapters in the United States and the organi- zation has long been recognized as the largest pre-medical fraternity in the country. Alpha Epsilon Delta is not only an honorary fraternity but also a service fraternity in that it aids pre-medical students in covering the long and tedious path in the direction of an M.D. degree. Its program consists of lectures, medical films, trips to medical schools, hospitals, and other institutions of interest to premeds . lts most essential element is that it has helped to bridge the gap between pre-medical training and the school of medicine.

First Sergeant Scabbard and Blade, a national honorary military organization, having been inactive since l932, regained its active status in the Spring of l939. The national organization was founded at the Uni- versity of Wisconsin in l9O'l and was first installed at the University of Florida in l92O. Active members are chosen from outstanding cadet officers in the R,O.T.C. units, who have shown the best character, leadership, and proficiency in military science and tactics. The purpose of this organization is to bring about a good relationship between' the military department and the student body and to faster in its members the essential qualities of good and efficient officers.
