VOLLEYBALL The United States Naval Academy Volleyball Club boast- ed one of its best seasons ever, climaxed by an exciting victory over Army at West Point. Guid- ed by the leadership and set- ting of Captain Ward Stevens, the volleyball team achieved a collegiate record of 49-5 and an overall record of 102-36. They finished the season as both state and regional cham- pions. Ward had the solid sup- port of outside hitters Ned Dennin, John Gelinne, and Ross Holcomb. Combined with strong outside hitting was the powerful middle hitting and blocking of Ray Biers, Kent Mann, and Kyle Watson. Under the experienced direction of coach Harvey Bryant, a former member of the USA Men ' s Na- tional Team, the men ' s volley- ball team achieved one of its most successful seasons ever. The team looks forward to an equally impressive season next year. Upcoming talent looks promising and only one start- ing letterman will be graduat- ing.

SCUBA CLUB S0SS The USNA Scuba Club promotes scu- ba diving witlnin the Brigade of Midship- men. Diving is a recreation that gradu- ates can enjoy throughout their lives; furthermore, because of the many na- val ports abroad, they can actively pur- sue diving in some of the best waters of the world. The club ' s primary goal is to teach Basic Scuba and to give each member an opportunity for an Openwater quali- fication. Successful completion of the course earns a scuba certification sanctioned by the Professional Associ- ation of Diving Instructors. In addition, the club also serves the qualified diver. Divers are welcomed on any dive, may borrow club owned scu- ba gear, obtain free air, and purchase equipment at discount prices through the club store in Bancroft Hall. The club also offers advanced courses to allow midshipmen to improve their div- ing skills and eventually qualify as an instructor. Each semester the Basic Scuba course qualifies approximately one hundred eighty mids. During spring break, the club also organizes the big- gest dive of the year. The warm waters of Key Largo, Florida, offer novice divers a chance to qualify in the ulti- mate conditions. Experienced divers take advantage of reduced dive costs. Beautiful reefs, beautiful girls, and a fun filled week are more than anyone could ask for!
