deagle OFFICERS OF THE Key Club are Warren Day, Vice-President, Taylor, Sweetheart, John Pickens, Chaplain, and Pettus Randall, Al Mather, Secretary-Treasurer, John Caldwell, President, Nan International President. Key Club Stands Out Most of the school-affiliated clubs are organized for the purpose of promoting some particular area of learn- ing-art, speech, or a language. Others, such as the Medical Careers Club and Future Teachers, are organ- ized to teach students about a profession which they might consider entering. The Key Club stands in marked contrast to all these. Its purpose is pure and simple- service to the school and the community by leaders among teen-age boys. In carrying out its ideal of service the Key Club has found that one of the best ways of rendering service to the community is by aiding the Salvation Army in its work among the less fortunate. During the fall the Key Club staged a drive to collect old clothes. Members l 128 looked through their closets and contacted their friends. When the drive was over, they were gratified to find that they were able to turn over to the Salvation Army over 2000 articles of clothing. Key Club members gave their time as well as their old clothing to the Salvation Army. During the Christmas season they could be seen manning booths uptown helping to make the spirit of Christmas meaningful. An important fund-raising proiect for the Key Club this year has been the parking of cars in the school parking lot for people attending Alabama football games. The club operated a shuttle-bus service to and from Denny Stadium. 1
