U. at a time when tiie Hcngal threats at a Southern football monopoly w ' ere just beginning to skid, but it also bids fair to supiily the most promising Tulane varsity since the 1931 Rose Bowl team with enough regular prospects to line the stacks three deep at every position. Rob Glass, the Massilon, Ohio, back who threatens off the strength of his three performances against Southeastern in Hammond, Alabama, and L. S. U., to go down as a Tulane immortal, locnis as the greatest prospect of a group that boasts many. Jimmy Tliibaiit showed up so well at fullback in spring practices that he was shoved into the number one spot ahead of such seasoned veterans as Hutler and Cjloden on the varsity. Hob Grush, Jack Tittle, John Sims, Louis Vincent, and Johnny Micelle are other very promising backs. Linemen who stood out during the season and spring practices were Charley Dufour, Cjordon English, Bob Wilson, and Pete Man- dich. Moon Mullins, pass catching end, is another prospect who played well in the season games and looked good enough in spring practice to step up to the first team at the injury of Del ' raites. Louisiana State fell by a 20 to O count in the la.st tilt on cold, windy Thanksgiving Day. Southeastern went down before the Bil- low 19-0 when B(;b (jlass showed his stuff up in Hammond, and .Alabama eked out a 19-13 ' i ' much hobbled last minute touch- down pass. Consider- ing the length and the type of practice the frosh indulge in, the victory proved that they have more than ordinary t;ilent, liecausc the L. S. U. team was no pushover, and it looks from here as if the 1938 Wave frosh should supply the university with a championship tcain, possibly two, considering the other leftover material Dawson has to draw from.
