SEVEN REASONS FOR SUCCESS 1. Reverend Clarence O,Shea fCoachJ : Webster has adjectives, but try to find the ones that will fit this note- worthy coach. Probably the best idea that could be brought across concerning the excellent coaching of Father Clarence appeared in one of our local News- papers due to an admirer's comment: 'AI-Ie is the greatest Basketball coach since Dr. James Naismith put up the first peach basket in l89l.,, The 1962 Varsity Club shouts out: Hats off and banners high to the greatest coach we have ever known. 2. Andy Loh: What team couldn't use his talents? Here was a boy who could come off the bench and take his place up front or in the backcourt without a lack of balance being felt by the squad. Andy's teammates label him as the greatest sixth man ever. 3. Doug Hice: This classy Junior Basketeer possessed a drive that no defense could stop. The Top scorer on the team, Bo tallied over 400 points. At the Christmas tour- nament Doug was named top player. With a variety of shots and good hustle, he looms as one of the top college prospects. Only a Junior, in another year maybe All- American. Mort Morawski Big John' Valainis 4. Ed Petranto: Easy Ed they call him because of his coolness in tense situations, the General of the Wave standing at only 5'9,' proves that you don't have to be big. He used blazing speed to make up for his height disadvantage, leading the Wave's fam- ous fast break and contributing to its effectiveness with his fine ball handling and pin point passes. 5. Terry Morawski: Labeled Terrible Terry by his op- ponents and King of the backboards throughout the season, Mort was a big factor in Catholic's Undefeated Season. Always there with a tremendous block or a forceful rebound, Terry lived up to his name. 6. John Valainis: Big John they call him, 6'6 . Noted by one commentator to have shades of Chamberlain',, John has made his height pay off all season. John's height makes him the best college prospect of the five senior members of the squad. 7. Mike Johnson: ln Basketball there are two types of defense, man to man, or zone. Against a zone, outside shooting could prove a big asset in the outcome of the game and Mike The Eyei' helped T. C. hold their own against the zone. Johnson stunned opponents all year with his machine-like accuracy. Mike The Eyei' Johnson
