HDeek the halls with boughs ol' holly was sung by eostumed Madrigal Singers as they strolled in the halls of TTHS on the day preceding Christmas vacation, part of the traditional earolling program. The Art Department spent many class periods making Christmas ornaments representing designs from stained glass windows. These ornaments, hung in all the windows of Thornton, created a stunning effect as the light came through. Each organization celebrated Christmas in a different way. Junior Red Cross made Christmas stockings and filled them with toys and goodies, donated by Thornton homerooms. These were sent to several orphanages with the seasonas wishes from JRC and other Thornton students. JRC Stockings-Row 1: Paula Powers, Donna Virgil Row 2: Wayne Miller, Darlene Kadlee. Gym fazmf were vm. One of the favorite extra-curricular activities Thornton students enjoy is the Gym Jam. It is a biannual project sponsored by the KIP and provides a Variety ofsports. Volleyball, tablc tennis. and shuffleboard are offered. besides swimming, chess, and dancing. A dance contest, judged by chaperones. KIP officers. and members of the board and forum, is a main event ofthe evening. All sports are tempo- rarily stopped for this highlight. One Gym Jam usually takes place in the spring and the other in early winter. Gver half the population of thc school and many guests of students attend these school events. They had their big chance to ask their favorite fellas to the annual Girls Club Dance. February 6. Girls walked boys to their Classes, Carried their books. and opened doors for thein. A grand march heralded the dance at 8:30 p.ni. A tall slender mannequin garbed in a traditional mardi gras costuinc stood in the center ofthe floor while vari-colored balloons were suspended from the ceiling. Jan Kook and his orchestra played for this special event. The rnale population of school looked forward to this big aiqair just as inueh as the girls did.
