Opening ceremonies included crowning ol' the queen, always the Girls Club president. Then a representative from eaeh elass presented to the queen a symbol of her authority: her Crown, her cape, her seepter, and her royal pillow. Zany stunts presented hy the four classes lol- lowed. Freshman Clowns welcomed wierd sopho- more side-show Characters, followed by junior dancing horses. Topping off the show was the senior parade of fashions and 21 grand Finale with all of the performers. Freshman girls were called to gather around the queen. As each girl passed the throne, she re- eeived a favor from one ofthe two pages. Refreshments were seryed as the party ended 'flemonade and cookies under the Big Top. That circus was held one Friday in September. Much hard work was put into the affair: animals had to be trained. perfor1ner's skills practiced, and Costumes and scenery Constructed. The produc- tion took a committee of fourteen and some one hundred performers. Stand-ups are an annual event. Freshman girls look forward to this big get-acquainted party. Traditional handshake at the beginning gets every- one off to a friendly Thornton feeling. These were just a liew of the inany Comments heard after the wonderful hoineeoniing weekend. This year's homecoming was. without a doubt, Thornton's best. A pep assembly and parade on Friday afternoon started everything off with a bang. That night Thornton won a thrilling football game against Lockport, 7-U. Afterwards there was a Purple X open- house until midnight. Saturday night was the hoineeoining dance. a dress-up affair and the biggest event ofthe weekend, Crowning ol' the King' and Queen by last year's royalty was the Clitnax. A ballet dance in honor of the new sovereiqnx followed. After the party, Couples dashed off for a bite to eat and a Chance to talk over the weekend festivities.
