Their program- began -even.before the OFFICERS start of the fall semester, helping in the gigantic freshman President Norman Grossman orientation program. The football season brought Booster- V. -P ' 'A R b . . we resz en .,... ..,. ...... o e rt McCaifery sponsored pep rallies, which featured members of the foot- Secretm Elaine Bums ball team and coaching staff. Moving pictures of the team's Treasurgg 4 i al-01 n Cook games were a weekly Boosters feature. y Glamour and pageantry were added to the campus when Boosters co-sponsored a Homecoming Queen con- test. Annette Moshen was crowned Homecoming Queen during half-time ceremones at the Syracuse game. The second semester saw the annual penny preak- ness run off by Boosters. Undergrads matched penny for Y' penny down the Watt st. course for the benefit of the Sal- Eii' ' vation Army. Boosters also sponsored Tradition Week which acquainted students with the customs and tradiions of the University. - After the election of new officers in February, Boost- N ers' annual dinner for the Committee of Ten, the organize- W u tion s guiding body, was held at the University Club. That's what members of the University's Chess Club were saying last December after the annual award dinner of the Intercollegiate League and OFFICER . . ' ' S the Interscholastlc Chess League, held in Houston Hall at President Edsel Packer the Umverslty of Pennsylvania' Vice-President ...... . ..,.,. ........ M ax Hughes Henry Greenwood of the Bulletin had just presented Secretm'-7 '4 B in Marcus the Bulletin trophy to Dr. A. A. Schaeifer, sponsor of the Temple team which won the Intercollegiate League cham- . . . r f fif llf lj pionship for the second consecutive year. Each member . or i gin - of the team received an individual award, a miniature of lv the trophy. To become a member of the Chess Club an applicant need have only an interest in playing chess. This interest helps the club achieve one of its two goalsg the promotion of chess playing. The other goal 1S the organlzatlon of a chess team to capably represent the University.
