In all, the Conclave consists of seventeen student members and a member of the faculty, Rev. Theo- dore -l. Schulte, S. This body convenes on the evenings of the first and third Tuesdays of every month in the Library of the Administration Building. During the first year of active work the Conclave did much to further the interests of the University and to stimulate and promote student activities. Sev- eral dances during the course of the year and a boat ride in May all proved to be most successful in bringing into closer contact in a pleasant manner the students of the different departments. The greatest accomplishment of the Conclave dur- ing this first year was the levying of a student-tax. In previous years many under- takings had proved to be most difficult and sometimes even vain because of a lack of uniform system in financing them. The University publications suffered a lack of support, the athletic association was not receiving its proper financial backing from the student body, the Conclave itself had not sufficient financial resources, and once the Year Book failed of publication because of the small number of advance subscriptions. These difhculties' the Conclave has succeeded in overcoming after much discussion and most diligent work. The assessment of a student tax of ten dollars annually has been most beneficial to the students of the University, as well as to these above mentioned organizations. For this sum the student is entitled to subscriptions to the annual and-bi-monthly publica- tions. as well as admission to all the athletic events of the school. Furhermore this tax materially aids the athletic fund, insures the success of both the publica- tions from a financial standpoint, and lends a financial support to the Conclave for further accomplishments. During the present year the Conclave has enjoyed continued success. In the social line there have been four dances given at Moolah Temple, all admirably conducted and helping greatly to bring into closer contact the students of the various departments. These gatherings have proved to be most pleasing and enjoyable, and they have been well attended. Besides these social activities, which have been under the direct supervision and management of the Conclave, several dances given after basket-ball games by the Athletic Board had the assistance of the Conclave members. An excursion was also given upon May 4th. Another social activity of a rather private nature in which the Conclave participated, occurred when President M. J. O'Connor, S, J., invited the members to a smoker and luncheon on the evening of February 9th, Father O'Cor1nor expressed his approval of the Conclavefs work, and said that he hoped the organization would enjoy continued success. For our moral victory in the last Thanksgiving game, the Conclave was, to some extent, responsible. It has often been said that many a football game was won through the enthusiasm of the rooters. This year the Conclave made many plans to stimulate the necessary pep to stop the onrush of overwhelming odds, and from the outcome of the game their efforts were not in vain. Probably the greatest factor in stimulating this interest was the organization of the Billiken Buzzersf' a group of fifty students from different departments uniformed in the colors of the University, and whose performance was a large feature of the activities connected with the game. These men secured a mule, the well-known Louise, and paraded her around the field during intermissions. Besides this the Conclave prepared for and managed the rally which took place on the evening 3 before the game.
