It has given pharmacy students a voice in the American Pharmaceutical Association for over SD years. S..lLl's Chapter of Student APHA, with a membership of 'l ED students, is very active on national, regional and local levels. This year, Chapter Vice-President .Jonathan Schiller was elected Flegion I Delegate. In addition to providing leadership on the regional level, Jon will represent student interests nationally within APHA. With St, ..lohn's, the chapter is involved in a variety of activities. These include fund raisers, speakers, and a newsletter. Student APHA sponsors the Patient Counseling Competition, in which students simulate a pharmacist-patient drug counseling situation. The chapter also co-sponsors Pharmacy Career Day. At this event, speakers inform the students about various opportunities within Pharmacy. As a service to students, Student APHA has initiated a Sook Exchange for science and Pharmacy majors. This will give students increased access to used science textbooks at reasonable prices. Through these activities, Student APHA unites Pharmacy students, giving them an identity and pride in their profession.

It is the largest and oldest pharmaceutical fraternity for women in the world. Founded on October 1 4, 1 S1 3, Lambda Kappa Sigma is committed to the advancement of women in Pharmacy. St. .John's Llniversity's chapter, Alpha Pi. was chartered on May S. 1 981 , Since this time, the sisters of LKS have promoted professionalism and scholarship within the field of Pharrnacy. In addition to professional activities, the sisters hosts a Faculty Coffee Hour. a Mother- Daughter Dinner, and a Spring Fornrmal annually. They also co-sponsor Christmas Follies. a yearly fundraiser celebrat- ing the holidays, in the cafeteria of St. AIbert's Hall. Under the leadership of President Nancy Hull, the sisters have become active in intersorority activities. The sisters of LKS are looking forvvard to a successful year and future! The XI Chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma, Pharmacy leadership Society, seeks to promote the development of leadership qualities in Pharmacy and Pharmacy students, with the fundamental assumption that leaders are made not born. The Society encourages participation in all Pharmacy activities, provides opportunities for Leadership development and aids in select- ing those who may wish to identify and demonstrate their leadership abilities.
