THE SPRINGFIELD CHAPTER OF THE FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA is a member of both the state and national associations. The only requirement is that the girls are either taking Homemaking or have taken' it. - The activities of the organization are concerned with the development of the girls both socially and for better home This year's officers were Leona Johns, historiang Dorris Whitted, presidentg joan Cothrell, secretaryg and Lois Lit- terick, treasurer. 404' living. Each member is encouraged to participate in activi- ties and is given an opportunity to plan and take part in a meeting. Field trips were high on the list of activities. A trip through the Weyerhaeuser saw and plywood mills, a trip through Williams Bakery and the Coca Cola Bottling Com- pany all gave the girls a better understanding of their com- munity. At Christmas they brought food so a less fortunate family might have a little more. Parties are also important. The first event of a social nature was the candle light initia- tion to which guests were invited and light refreshments were served in the Home Economics living room-. Daddy Date Night is a very special spring event looked forward to by both girls and Daddies Patsy Bowman and Linda Anderson were the girls elect- ed to go to the State Convention at Oregon State College in March.
