It also contributes help at all home athletic events, and this year has organized a school fire department, which helps at all fire and civil defense drills. The club consists of 48 members, all of whom have earned their letters by participating the re- quired time in a major sport. The officers of the club, under the supervision of john Young, are Richard Nielsen, president, Don Rose, vice- president, Don Brown, secretary-treasurer, Floyd Burright, Joe Duncan, and Ted McCarthy, sergeants-at-arms. Paul reads a letter from their adopted orphan girl in Ger- many, while all listen attentively. 26.2 TO CREATE, MAINTAIN, AND EX- TEND throughout the school and community, high standards of Christian character is the purpose of the Hi-Y club, under the direction of Mr. Frank Priester, adviser. Refreshments were provided after games by the Hi-Y to all participants in football and bas- ketball, Sponsoring of the Danceland at the carnival and selling programs during football season were other activities of the club. Outstanding among activities was the elec- tion of Sherman Everett National I-Ii-Y cong- ress in Washington, D.C. during June and July for the Youth Government Assembly.
