AS TEACHER OF THE YEAR 156-157 MRS, ELSIE MAE JAMES Mrs, Elsie James is the wife of Mr. Hillery James, the principal of South Girard Elementary School. She received a bachelor of science degree from Alabama State Teachers College and a masters' degree from Alabama State Teachers College. She has done further study at Wayne University in Detroit, Michigan. She is a veteran of 22 years of teaching and former president of the Alabama State Alumni Association of Phenix City among many other things.

College. He attended the following colleges, Service School, Hampton Institute, U.C.L.A., and Montisula State College, Montisula, Montana. During summer months of I956, he attended an Educational Workshop for Principals. He is currently employed as a part time instructor at the Columbus Center of Albany State College, having been employed since l953, and has been employed by the Phenix City Board of Education since I94O.
