Heady Harold The Defensive Backneld An important part of the Ludlowe success story this year was the inspired play of the offensive and defen- sive lines. Offensively, at guard, Bob Mattice was the only returning varsity lineman. Guard Rene Chenell, H-dlgw grads 7 center Bob Labbance, and tackles Dick Heady, Tom Glatzmeyer, and Craig Wargo completed a line that was small and inexperienced but that got the job done game after game. In his first complete year at tight end, Harold Stone added blocking strength as well as an able pass target. Complementing Stonels size was the speed of returning split end Dave Seres. Dave brought the big play scor- ing threat to the offense and came through for 10 touchdown passes. The actions of the defense speak for themselves. While the offense was scoring 42 points per game, the defense was holding the opposition to only 12. The line was small but quick enough to stop the sweep and hold their ground inside. They were backed up by co- captains Brown and Prendergast as linebackers and a quick-thinking secondary led by third-year starter Ben Jacobellis.

Mike Part of the consistent effort demonstrated by the Ludlowe Tigers this year was the all-out fiery play of the all-senior backfield. Halfback Ben Jacobellis' twisting- and-turning running style carried him into the end zone for a team-leading 102 points. His value was not only on the end sweep but as a pass receiver and blocker as well. Co-captain Kevin Prendergast displayed his ability as varsity fullback for the third straight year. He always got the first downs and threw the blocks which sprung the other backs. Halfback and co-captain Chris Brown rounded out the running backfield by combining the qualities of both Benny and Kevin. He ran through people and around people, as well as being another receiver. Quarterback Mike Tetreau was there to put all the talent together. Mike knew when to use Benny around end or Kevin up the middle. He knew when to slip Chris out as a receiver and throw short, or throw long, and he did for 20 touch- downs. And when all else failed, Mike tucked the ball under his arm and ran with moves and guts of a halfback. Chris
