The spring of '59, Coach Pistone's first year saw RHS. take a second in the Hockamock League. This winter at the Boston Garden in the Winter State Championship Meet, Ran- dolph scored higher than any other South Ziyi 1' Shore pa-rticipant, fourth in Class C. High- lights of that meet: Dove Duffy's second in the mile with a final spurt that set the Gar- den into a roar, Phil Carlino tieing for first in the high jump and Bill Crayton's 5th place medal in the lOOO. Freshman basketball players promise a lasting success for Randolph's coming varsity teams with their lO-l record this year, High scorer, Francis i-lart, with a lo points per game average and second place John Sawcuck are the boys to watch Play-making by Ron Zack and Fred Swanson with Richie Zapustas and Jim Webber alternating as starters gave us an aggressive well balanced team. Best game: Oliver Ames, 34-30. First victory. Captain Francis l-lart and William Morris led the Freshmen Grid Team to a 5-2 record this year. Starring in passing and running, Frank Hart quarterbacked with the support of Jim Dolan's line backing and Ed Mace's tackle.
