Members of Parkersburg High School's first volleyball team are from left, first row, Coach Judy Waggoner, Shelia Boggs, Cindy Wallbrown, Jewell Owens, Karen Conley, Prudy Crouser, Debbie Short, Lanita Wentzel, Kendra Barker, Coach Susan Gardner, second row, Ftegi Thomas, Betsy Welch, Jeri Tallhamer, Dana Worden, Lorna Hardman, Beth St. Clair, Kathy Goldstein, Jody Johnson, Tammy Vilalp. carol koiheim, Kim st. Clair, Kathy Mcivluilm. and Linda Moore. Girls interscholastic sports becomes a reality interscholastic sports for girls became a reality for Parkersburg High School during the 1974-1975 school year. The Big Red girls competed in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference which included teams from Warren, Belpre, Marietta, Parkersburg Catholic, Williamstown, and DeSales Heights Academy. The volleyball squad won their last four matches to finish with a 8- 4 seasonal record, good for a third place in conference standings. To top off the Big Reds' season Tam- my Walp and Lanita Wentzel were chosen for the All-Conference team, while Prudy Crouser and Sheila Boggs gained honorable mentions. High match scorer was Sheila Boggs with 12 points scored against Williamstown. Shelia Boggs also served 66 points to Four Big Red girls gained honors in their first season. Prudy Crouser placed second with 65 points.
