Beginning a week ot learning about the Colorado government, students from the Centennial State arrived at Boys' State and Girls' State. The girls, who wrote essays presenting their reasons for wishing to attend, stayed at Colorado VVornen's College in Denver, while the boys stayed at Colorado University in Boulder. The tive girls and eight boys from Colorado Springs ioined about 650 other students from all over Colorado to hear distinguished speakers and learn about discharging the duties of ottice in the state gov- ernment. They held their own trial with DistrictCourtJudge Arthur Franz presiding met Governor McNichols and held their own legislative session in Denver at the State Capitol. They elected a governor and oth er officials, and took over the state for one day. They also elected one boy and one girl to travel to Boys' Notion and Girls' Nation respectively.
