It was organized in 1908, and later a constitution defined the power which it now exercises. These are the right of student representa- tion in student affairs, the power of making recommendations to the trustees in regard to the awarding of honors for athletics and forensics, and of making nominations for important student offices. Members are chosen from each of the four classes, and from the college and academy at large. Committees of three from the council represent the student enterprises of oratory, debate, and athletics, and are responsible to the student body. The existence and work of this body are important items which contribute to the democratic spirit found throughout the school. MEMBERS HELEN WHITNEY, Pres. NEAL EVANS, Vice-Pres. LORENE OWEN, Sec. The chief aim of the Young Men's Christian Association in Ottawa University is to bring the men of the school into close relationship to Jesus Christ, that the principles of Christ may be real in their lives and that the Christian life may prevail in Campus life. The Y. M., C. A. recognizes the threefold development of the well-rounded educa- tion, namely, development of body, mind, and spirit. The officers and chairmen of committees form the cabinet, which transacts much of the business, and plans for the best interests of the Association. President ...... ....
