THE CLASS OF '3I Proudly and ambitiously the class of '31 made its first appearance in old Nichol's Hall, in the fall of '27. College had started, studies and play both were confronted. Fighting determinedly, the Red and Black were pulled through the Du Page, and were conquered in the Sack-Rushf' but on that memorable Homecoming day of '27, the class won her first college victory by overwhelm- ingly defeating the Sophomores in the Push-Ball contest. She proved her worth in sportsmanship on the athletic field: her intellectual side in debates and dramatics. Time passed fast, the bright path of college life was nearing the end of its first year. Many friends had been made, and in Iune the Green Caps were put away in a chest of memories. ln the fall of '28 she returned more assured. The thrills and thoughts of the year before were inscribed in each one's memory. The members of the class of '31 were now Sophomoresg new worlds were to be conquered. Again the class distinguished itself by winning the annual Frosh-Soph debateg placing men on Varsity teams and proving itself above the average in class teams. The class won a high place on the campus, her age increased, her idea of knowledge decreased, and soon she could proudly claim the Sun Dial as a part of her tradition. Upperclassmen-Iuniorsl At first the new name startled those who claimed it. Among the exclusive upper-half, the Red and Black were now confronted with deeper problems, and with the thought of proving to be superior to the classes who were to follow in her footsteps. Good times, parties, picnics, and as a climax, the Iunior-Senior Banquet. Thewclass of '31 was now repre- sented in all branches of college life. Her successes increased and her repre- sentatives proved their worth to North Central by their dependability and enthusiasm. The pleasant road of college life was soon to end. Honored guests at the Iunior-Senior Banquet, the ordering of Invitations, and the measurement of Caps and Gowns, all came in order. The time for Graduation had arrived. Indeed, each member had broadened his knowledge, acquired new friends, and created new desires. The most eventful and happiest years are past: new op- portunities are looming on the horizon: the class inspired by the years gone by, crosses the threshhold and enters a new and interesting world.
