Gordon Masters stops an Enid run as Hayden Henrv and Jimmy Music go after their men. Norman Highs football team, coached bv “Pete” Tillman and J. L. .Martin, was selected- by sports writers to win, or at least tic, for Mid-State Conference this year. The Tigers, after the expected loss to the mighty Little Rock team, started the season as predicted, by winning two in a row, one of these, Enid, who ended the year in the number one position in the state. Then they were plagued by injuries. With such star players out of the game as Allen Morain, Jimmie Brunoldi, Don Drake, Tommy Webb, Hayden Henry, and others, Norman’s expected victorious season became one of de- feats. After the Enid game with inexperienced quarterbacks, and with boys playing any posi- tion to fill the “holes” in the line-up, the team went down fighting with a record of four wins and one tic. mar re many
