.Semen Glafu Jlulcvuf The fall of 1938 found the halls of Nl C H S overrun with 118 green freshies After some hot campaigning, we elected Barbara Parret president Mary 'Vlargaret Peddlcord uce president Don Locke secretary treasurer and Mr Bailey as our guardian We were hosts to the sophomores at a Thanksglxmg party w hlch prox ed a great success as did the Art Exhibit 1939 we were eight less but still a little flustered Al Beyer president Jim Pemberton tice presldent Imogene Fisher secretary treasurer and MISS Lux as sponsor put their heads together To raise money we sold cookies iwhxch some of us madel Perhaps thev were not so bad because the mice enjoyed them too' As a result our money box Jmgled' 1940 saw a few more of us missing We worked haid to w in first prize in the Homecoming Parade by Plowing Farmer Clty Under And they went under too' Our capable officers who led us through thick and thin were David Drake president Bill Keefe vice presldent Barbara Parret secretary treasurer and Mr Chxddlx sponsor Everyone chipped in and helped buy or sell candy and pop this for our elders the seniors their banquet and prom for which we all slaved In 1941 there were 94 of us left to grow still older and wiser We elected the following officers Leo Myers president Bill Crockett tice president Marian Riley secretary treas urer with Mr Bailey again guiding us safely through another year We started the year and showed our social ability by sponsoring the Homecoming Dance which proved to be a great success When Uncle Sams call came Ieo Mvers Bill Crockett and Ted Ross answered it In the fall of 1935 Leo entered Normal High as a freshman being uce president of his class In 1936 he left Normal and Joined the navy After three and a half years of traveling every He is now a third class storekeeper Bill Crockett is also in the navy whlle Ted Ross IS in the Marines We were now left with only one officer namely Marian Riley secretarv treasurer After a second election Marian was moved up to the presidency Allen Bever was elected vice president and Don Zelger secretary treasurer March 13 was a memorable date because the 1un1or semor partv was scheduled for eight oclock but when our team beat the Havana Ducks and plaved in the finals of the Sectional it was changed to the fourteenth Everything was planned with the idea of Victory in mind It was unique in that somethmg new was tried a floor show which was swell' Art sang Imo gene tickled the 1VOI'l6S and Danny flddled 'Ihe semors haxe not been slack in rendering serxices to their alma mater You will find leaders in evervthlng from academic subjects to all the extra curricular activities Mary Margaret Peddlcord was Editor in Chief of the NCHS NEWS Whlle Janet Tavlor edited the REVERIE Sports cannot be forgotten because semors have been captams throughout the year Basket ball was headed bv Jim Pemberton football Allen Beyer and Bill Crockett baseball Jack Moore Marilynn Crandall was president of H1 Trl Harold Alexander lead the H1 1 Barbara Parret by popular tote of the semor class was elected to recene the D A R Citizenship award Barbara Parret and Allen Beyer also by a popular vote of the semors were given the Danforth Award This honor IS given the semor boy and girl who show pur poseful living and is made on the bas s of health knowledge personality and character The award is a book I Dare You and a beautiful certificate Mary Margaret Peddlcord and Dan Gehrt play ed the leads in the all school play Ever Since Exe Wow after four vears we reach the end of an important period which is only the be ginmng For as we came from the four winds so shall we return to them Some of us will go on to further education the remainder of us will enter xarlous occupations Whatex er we do each of us will make his place 1n the world whether It be large or small O C s L s s .
