Block and Bridle Sponsors MSU Rodeo The Block and Bridle Club of MSU is com- posed of agricultural students whose major interest is in Animal Husbandry. The Block and Bridle Club has long been recognized as one of the hardest working groups on campus. The activities of the club include the Junior College Judging Contest, the Little Interna- tional Showmanship Contest, the AQHA — NCHA approved horse show, Club Livestock and Meat Judging Contest, Spring Barbecue, and a Rodeo. The club also sponsors the Meat Judging and Livestock Judging teams, which represent the University at regional and nation- al judging contests. At the annual awards ban- quet awards are presented to the Livestock Man of the Year and Outstanding County Agent of the Year to end club activities. 248

Soils, Field Crops Hold Agronomy Club Interest The Agronomy Club is the Mississippi State University Chapter of the Student Activities Subdivision of the Ameri- can Society of Agronomy. The chapter has been active since 1937 when it was chartered. Membership in the club is open to all students in agriculture interested in soils, field crops, or land use. Members are eligible to participate in all local and national activities such as soil judging, crop identification and grading, and speech contests. Many varied activities are provided by the national organization which will appeal to the interests of every member. The purpose of the Agronomy Club is to improve the student competitively and professionally through association with other students here and in other states, and faculty members locally and nationally. 247
