The Minersville Chapter - of - The National Honor Society .. of .. Secondary Schools Minersville High School was granted a charter to the National Honor So- ciety of Secondary Schools in 1922. The purpose of the organization is to create enthusiasm in scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character. Fifteen per cent of each graduating class may be elected to this society which is the greatest honor that may be conferred upon a high school graduate. The organization is controlled by the National Education Association. Reed Maurer was elected class president, a big job. First football game. CWilliams off sides. The beginning of a big season for Bob.j First home game against Schuylkill Haven and a swell dance after the game. Birthday of our twins, Dick and Bob. Football captains elected: Skibiel, Trasatt, and Kostick picked. This date marked the greatest game ever played by a Minersville team: the West Hazleton game. Coach Stefl found a new pigskin prospect in The toe , alias Dave Donlin. Room 7,s singing maidens, accompanied by Donna Clark hit a new high in the music world. Danny Trasatt scores a touchdown. Seniors try the single wing on the underclassmen. Thanksgiving Vacation. Hope none of Mary Taglieri's cooking went to waste. First basketball game. Antonio beat Frackville. Cafeteria opened. VValacavage burned the meat loaf. ' Scientist DiBiase almost blew up the chem room during the last period. Alumni Dance. And where was our crooner, Romance? First school day in '55. Start in at once on the Card Party. Football Banquet. Dorazio honored for his eating ability. Minersville downed Cass. Degutis was high with two points. Senior Card Party.
