During Education Week. they taught classes at Jackson. Besides teaching. the Future Teachers performed many other services for the school. Ushering for Back to School night and grading papers for teachers were two important jobs fulfilled by the members. Representatives from Jacksorfs FTA attended the State Convention in Daytona Beach. Florida. during which state officers were elected. On Edu- cation Day they were present at a program of- fered by the University of Miami. Members work hard to obtain certificates given when a certain number of service hours have been fulfilled. Florida state teaching scholarships are given only to members of Future Teachers. ell Hopeful Ladies MAKING ADDITIONS to their hope chests are the members of the Hope Chest Club. These girls meet during club period to work on their numerous projects. This year they made luncheon sets. aprons, tea-towels. potholders, and learned the art of needlework. Their needlework projects consisted of the making of pillow cases and the monogramming of bath towels and blouses. As Christmas drew near the girls gave money to a Japanese family to enable them to have a joyous holiday. Many members made unique arti- cles which they used as Christmas gifts for both friends and family. Mrs. Kane, the club sponsor, strived to implant in each girl the ingenuity to use everything avail- able to them, in both material and ability. These girls learned their lesson well. nik HOPE CHEST: ROW I, L. Washburn, B. Pickering Cpresj, A. Chandler tv. presj, gr B. Morris fsec.J, E. Brown ftreas.J. ROW 2, Mrs. Cane lsponl, S. Dague, C.
