The probability of accident or injury in a Republic plant is less than in your own bathroom. Steel today is the fifth safest in- dustry - up from eighth place in 1932. The first Ohio industrial plants to fly the National Safety Council's pennant for Distinguished Service Safety were Republic's Berger plant at Canton and the Bolt and Nut plant at Cleveland. In 1941 Republic also won from the National Safety Council 6 first, Z second, and 2 third place awards, plus 10 certificates of merit for im- provement in accident records, all this in competition with 408 other steel companies. Republic's safety program has gone on year after year, in war and peace. It is only part of a still broader program aimed at making REPUBLIC A GOOD PLACE TO WORK - A GOOD COMPANY TO JOIN AND A GOOD PLACE TO STAY.
