I like D.E. because it gives me a chance to know what it's like to have a job, and l only go to school for half a day. - Clay Sanders, senior Digging into a motor job is Kevin 0'Brien, senior, and Junior Jasso, junior, while trying to get the best possible position. iPhoto by Traci Rionj The Mechanical Angle In Clubs Is orking Marketing Education prepared motivated people for marketing careers. D.E. provided a way to secure entry-level midlmanagement positions in marketing and in keeping students individual goals, said Mr, Juan Rocha, sponsor. Students enroll for the marketing program their junior and senior year as an elective for three credits per year. The students are often assisted by the teacher in placement in a cer- tified training station. They attended one class period in the morning then work in the afternoon. Students had to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. Students received grades from daily class work, individual study manuals, tests, and evaluations based on their job performance and progress. They took true-false tests, fill in the blanks, and essay type tests. Students also take pre-tests and post-tests to help evaluate student knowledge. The average a D.E. student has to maintain to stay in the program is a 75 average in their job evaluation, according to Mr. Rocha. As for auto mechanics they maintain their grades by taking tests from their text books. The purpose of the class is to prepare students for later jobs and experiences. The main function of the class is to teach motor jobs and basics. Stacey Turner Q 3 F' ' 'Q lun EB! Q il . ...A ..... . .,,.. . ..,.... ammo .. . .. V . . . K, I V, ,..V. . ,T ..,m,H.k
